What Has Happened To This Waterfront? (Essay III)

What Has Happened To This Waterfront?

Nowadays, people are lack of environmental consciousness that results a behavior that goes with “whenever you leave, trash remains behind”. What will happen if we constantly leaving our trashes behind? The answer is pollution. What will happen if an area is polluted? Perhaps things will just got worse and worse. Here is a true story that happened to a waterfront in Netherlands.

There was a guy named Tommy Kleyn in Netherlands and he has showed us how a kindness act can make a better environment. He was annoyed by the act of people throwing trashes in the river. Day by day, the river got darker and dirtier. The garbage and the trashes piled up at the waterfront and left the beautiful river a bad impression. Tommy decided to clean up the garbage and the trashes himself and he got up thirty minutes earlier every day to clean the waterfront before he went to work. About a month later, he had cleaned up this heavily polluted waterfront and the scenery of the waterfront was clean and green. The waterfront was no longer polluted. To his surprise, an Eurasian coot started nesting in the part which he clean!

(The litter part part of the waterfront)

The result of people throwing garbage in the river may have many impacts on the environment. First, the fishes and the animals that lived near by the riverbanks may eat up the plastic bottles or plastic bags for food and the toxic may remain in their bodies that could not be digested. Second, the water quality of the river will get worse and fishes may be sick and than die. They may even give birth to deformed baby animals. The river will stink and maybe no one would get near the river anymore. Third, the lack of environmental consciousness and the act of throwing garbage will become a habit and some people may imitate this act and throw garbage in the river.

From this story, we have witnessed the impact that the human can make on the environment, what we can do is to do from ourselves right now to make a better environment. We can reduce plastic consumption, not leaving garbage behind, have environmental consciousness to make our lives much better and greener; Moreover, even a small act of kindness can make a big difference.

Types of Restaurants(Example Essay II)

Dining in a restaurant can be great fun; there are also more and more different types of restaurants appearing to fit for various tastes of costumers. There are three types of restaurants that are recommended for you. If you take a look at these restaurants, you would likely want to pay a visit to these amazing restaurants.

First, you may have been to theme parks, but have you ever heard of theme restaurants? Due to some famous cartoons, movies or even comics, some restaurant businesses had come up with restaurants featuring those famous icons. For example, the Barbie Café in Taipei city. I once went to dine there and the atmosphere made me feel like a princess. The design of the inner decoration was fancy and with bright pink color everywhere. Portraits of Barbie and Ken were nicely on the wall. There were fancy sofas and decoration of Barbie furniture. The food was delicate and even cakes are baked like a princess dress! It’s like stepping into a pink castle and having a marvelous dining experience. Next time if you want to go to a theme restaurant, make sure you’ve got a camera or cell phone to take a lot of pictures while exploring the restaurant!

Second, animal cafes are getting more popular these days. In Japan, there are cat cafes, bird cafes and even hedgehog cafes. Costumers can have a leisure afternoon sitting in the café and sipping coffees while admiring birds surrounding by them or looking at lazy cats laying by your side and allowing you to give them a nice stroke. Animal restaurants are both entertaining and relaxing. It’s also a good opportunity to get in touch with animals if your family doesn’t allow you to keep pets at home. You can always visit an animal café.

All-you can-eat buffet is the best way to fit various tastes of costumers and it’s mostly the best choice for family members to dine out. It has exotic food, Asian food, sushi, seafood, spaghettis and nearly most of the food you can imagine. All-you-can-eat buffet might be quite expensive somehow but it would fulfill your appetite for trying all sorts of food. All you have to do is constantly finishing your plate and filling new plates with new food!

My Favorite Sites(Example Essay)

My Favorite Sights(Example Essay)

I had the best time traveling with my family to London last winter vacation and we had visited numerous beautiful sights. London seems to have the magic that appeals people to take a closer look at the charm of the city itself. I also got my pocket list of favorite sights in my mind that I’m desperate to visit in person. Since it’s a city that is rich in  its history and full of wonders, we decided to fly all the way to London for a ten-day trip to check it out.

One of my favorite sights was the Big Ben Clock at the first day of our trip. The Big Ben was what came to my mind when I thought of London. I loved to watch Peter Pan when I was small. I could remember vividly in my mind of the scene when Peter took Wendy and her brothers out at night and flew across the city and landed on the long hand of Big Ben Clock. It was definitely exciting to visit it in person. When we came out of the tube of Westminster Station, the beautiful and elegant clock just appeared in front of our eyes. It looked so steady, calm and solemn. Surprisingly, it looked good from any angles! Visiting the Big Ben Clock was like turning my imagination into reality and it was my first favorite destination of London.

My family was museum lovers. Therefore, our schedule was full of various museums. It’s quite amazing that most of the museums in London are free to go. We definitely seized the chance to go to almost every famous ones. What I love about museums in London was the variety of the items that they displayed and the majestic look of the buildings. My favorite museums were the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum. The Natural History Museum was home to life and earth science specimens comprising some eighty million items within five main collections: botany entomology, mineralogy, paleontology and zoology. Upon the items they displayed, the enormous Dippy the dinosaur caught my eye and it was definitely my favorite ones in the museum.

As for the Science Museum, it displayed numerous early inventions including cars, rockets, the first jet engine and some of the earliest remaining steam engines. What I like the most about visiting there was the fun to watch the variety of items and learning their history. There was also an interesting machine displaying in the hall, it was an enormous Corliss steam engine still running all day long. I’m not a science fan but watching the machines and huge rocket sets just blows my mind. I love the museums because it was so fun to watch the variety of the exhibition and it just made my eyes dazzle. I just hope that I could have enough time to check out every corner of the museums!

What I love about London was also the parks. Instead of catching up to the next destination, I would sometimes stop at parks for moments of relax. London was one of the greenest capital cities in the world and there were always numerous parks wherever you go. One of my favorite parks was St. James Park. When I first strolled along in the park, I immediately fell in love with this paradise of cute animals. It was a beautiful park with big lakes and it’s like an open zoo full of all kinds of animals. If you got a loaf of bread in your hand, you would see ducks, swans, birds and even pelicans staring at it waiting impatiently, once you gave it out, they would swarm towards you and gulp it all up. Furthermore, don’t think squirrels belongs in trees, they are also agile and great food stealers. They would jump to the ground and swiftly emerge in the group of animals fighting for food and left with a piece of bread or cookie in triumph. I’m so amazed to be so close to wild animals and they seemed to be scared of no one. I think that was a big difference compared to my experience in Taiwan. The experience of get interacting with cute animals was unforgettable and exciting. St. James Park was definitely the perfect choice to go for an animal lover!

I had a great time traveling with my family to London. London surely has the charm for its majestic architectures, great histories and beautiful animals. Some attractions were worth visiting again. As Vivienne Westwood said, “There is nowhere else like London. Nothing at all, anywhere.” With no doubt, I would like to travel to London again.
